Why do we need Government?
As we discussed in Unit 3 & 4, humans rely on each other's help to not only survive, but thrive in an ever-changing world. In order to build a prosperous society, humans live in communities and set up a government system in order to enforce the rules of that community. The role of government is to protect the lives, liberties, and property of community members and provide services that humans cannot provide for themselves. These services could include the building of roads, access to public education, and emergency help in the event of a natural disaster.
